Special Town Board Meeting Minutes
						
June 4, 2010
5:34p.m.—6:06p.m.

Town Officials Present:  Chairman: William Jax.  Supervisors:  Michael
H Poe, Steven Gillespie, and David Specht.
Town Officials Absent: Supervisor:  Rosetta Boyle
Others Present:  Clerk/Treasurer:  Betty Manson, and Pat Anderson
–representative from D.L Gasser.

CALL MEETING TO ORDER:   Chairman Jax called the special town board
meeting to order at 5:34p.m.        .  

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:  The pledge of allegiance was recited by all
present.

VERIFICATION OF PROPER POSTING:  Manson verified that this special
board meeting was properly posted at 4 locations within the township.

AGENDA IN ANY ORDER:  Motion was made by Poe to approve the agenda as
presented, 2nd by Gillespie.  Motion Carried 

BANK OF MAUSTON LOAN FOR NEW SNOWPLOW TRUCK/EQUIPMENT:  Gillespie
questioned if the town needs to get a loan—how much money does the
town have in reserves?  Jax would like to keep the money in reserves. 
Specht questioned where the money would come out of the budget?  Poe
answered “this year’s payments would have to come out of reserves and
the following years would be in the road budget.  He also stated that
it would be a wash because the Town will not rely on Juneau County to
do any snowplowing, but of course, that all depends on how much it
snows.” Gillespie would like to know if there is a pre-pay penalty.
Jax will ask the Bank of Mauston.  Manson stated that the money for
the truck itself has to be paid immediately, but that the equipment
payment could wait for 4-5 months.  Gillespie stated that then there
could possibly be 2 draws made.  Motion was made by Jax to get a loan
from the Bank of Mauston, making 60 payments with no penalty with
pre-paying the balance, and checking to see if the Town could make 2
draws, 2nd by Poe.  Motion Carried.   

OPEN BIDS FOR PARKING LOT EXPANSION WITH POSSIBLE APPROVAL:  Gillespie
opened the bids, with Poe verifying if the bidders had all the
required paperwork.  Jax read the bids:  DL Gasser—$12,000.00; Scott’s
Construction—$9,897.00.  After comparing the two bids:  DL Gasser
estimated the parking lot project to be 1517 yards and Scott’s
Construction estimated the parking lot project to be 827 yards. 
Motion was made by Specht to accept DL Gasser’s bid of
$12,000.00—stating that the board felt that Scott’s Construction bid
was inaccurate according to the Town’s specifications.  Specht also
stated that this is not a prevailing wage project—under $25,000.00,
2nd by Poe.  Motion Carried.  Poe stated that he will call Scott’s
Construction on Monday to explain the board’s decision. 

PUBLIC COMMENT:  None 

ADJOURN MEETING:  Motion was made by Specht to adjourn the special
town board meeting at 6:06p.m. , 2nd by Gillespie. Motion Carried

Chairman Jax declared the special town board meeting adjourned
